It's only a few weeks, until
Baltimore's 7th Annual Transmodern Festival where Urban Engine will be making it's debut on April 18th, at 11:00 am during
Pedestrian Services Exquisite.
But what
is Urban Engine?
Urban Engine is a concept developed during my junior year of college in my Art and Community class during the spring semester of 2008. It is a prototype for the integration of community, visual art, education, interactivity and stewardship to spread the principals of appreciation and sustainability of artistic collaboration, cooperation, conversation, and education. It is a way for me, as an artist, to use creativity and link it with stewardship to create a functional piece of art that serves the public.
"Urban Engine's mission is to provide a mobile and versatile multipurpose art space. This space provides a creative place for making, teaching, and exhibiting art, while by making accessible a functional art space for community members to utilize."
Over the next two weeks, I will be blogging about myself, my intent and inspiration, research I have done on interactivity, community art, stewardship, and mobility, my process in making this debut as successful as possible all the way leading up to U.E's debut and afterwards to discuss this project, get public feedback, and get support to make Urban Engine a permanent feature in Baltimore City neighborhoods. I have also developed a facebook event invitation for those of you who are plan on attending already.
